I woke up this morning to the kind of stillness that only Saturdays can bring. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, muted and soft, as though it understood my need for rest. It was nearly noon when I finally pulled myself from the cocoon of my blankets. Saturday is my day to recharge, a sacred space I’ve carved out for myself in a world that often demands too much.
Despite working remotely, the mental and emotional weight of my job in government systems is unrelenting. The layers of bureaucracy, the constant need to navigate complex structures, and the hierarchical dynamics that often feel both confusing and pointless—it all takes its toll. The approval chains, protocols, and processes are elusive, slipping through clarity like sand through fingers, existing more to sustain themselves than to create meaningful outcomes.
Saturdays are my sanctuary, a day to let my body guide me instead of the unyielding clock or the rigid expectations of a system that often feels disconnected from human needs. This morning, my body craved sleep, and I gave in willingly.
When I finally stepped outside, I was greeted by the sight of bunnies frolicking in the backyard. Their playful movements felt like a gentle reminder of life’s simplicity, a contrast to the constant noise in my head. Moments like this are rare, fleeting, but they ground me in a way that few things can.
